15 Firefox hacks to Pimp up Google Reader

July 25th, 2007 No comments

Google Reader is enough power tool to read and manage your RSS subscriptions on-line. But it also can be improved to provide additional functionality with help you be more productivity with Reader. Library clips gives 15 receipts to pimp up the Google Reader. Those receipts are based on Firefox and Greasemonkey – tool which allows to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript. So, if you’re IE or Opera fan they definitely are not for you. The most interesting IMHO Google Reader + Twitter, Google Reader + del.icio.us, Google Reader’s BlogThis2Me and Integrate Google Reader with Gmail. So, feel free to grub appropriate hack for you!

P. S. I found very annoying POP-up snap-shot adds on the Library clips. I understand that the blog should work for money as well but it’s very difficult to read articles when those dummy POP-ups appear for every link.

Who to be productive with blog

July 25th, 2007 No comments

web worker daily

Web Worker Daily gives 10 ways be productive with your blog. Well there are two which I like more than others:

8. Force yourself to do research. A lot of time I will procrastinate on research for as long as possible. But when it comes time to write a blog post about something, I am forced to do that research so that I can write about it in the post. That’s good incentive, and you can accomplish a lot more research if you post every day or at least a few times a week on your blog.

and

9. Become a life-long learner. Ever have something you want to learn about? Well, do a series of posts (or an entire blog) on that topic. Writing about it every day will force you to learn it well enough to explain — the best method of learning there is. In this way, you can teach yourself dozens of subjects about which you would otherwise be ignorant.

I try to follow by those suggestions when I post about something in my blogs. And it really help me find more information then I get from the original source.

LG KU990

Right after Samsung’s SGH-L760 LG announced its YuoTube-enable mobile phone KU990. Integration with YouTube allows not only watch video but submit videos to the site straight from the phone as well. Thanks to the 5-megapixel camera you may do good clips. The KU990 also sports 3-inch touchscreen, a built-in FM radio, MP3 player and microSD card slot. Sure, the HSDPA connectivity is nice but WiFi for communication with YouTube would be better choice.

There are no word on pricing or availability yet.

Belkin N1 Vision

Belkin, well-known producer stylish gadgets and accessories, announced its new product – N1 Vision. It’s a wireless router but as the rest Belkin’s products it looks very attractive. Moreover, featured by full monochrome LCD display the N1 Vision tracks your upstream / downstream speeds, logs your bandwidth, displays date, time and network access key info, and also shows you what devices are connected and how much bandwidth each one is eating up.

In addition to displaying network data, the N1 sports 802.11n and gigabit ports. It has a link rate of 300Mbps and a range of up 1,600 ft. If you really need to monitor your network status the price at $199.99 is not so expensive for that kind device.

Casio EX-S880 and EX-S77

It seems YouTube is standard de-facto for video hosting. A new digital cameras from Casio can be visual proofs of that thesis. The EX-S880 and EX-S77 feature 8.1- and 7.1-megapixels respectively and include special YouTube capture mode. That mode allows to store your videos at 640 x 480 resolution and H.264 format. So, you shouldn’t adjust your video and convert it to proper format.

Both cameras will be out in August for $300 and $230, respectively.

Samsung SGH-L760

Blogging and social services and networks became popular more and more. So, producers of mobile phones couldn’t just stay and see this process. As result Sumsung released SGH-L760 – a mobile phone with can help you be not only mobile but social as well. It supports RSS Reader function, UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) and sports 2M camera and Bluetooth connectivity. The SGH-L760 allows to upload video to YouTube by pressing just 2 or 3 buttons. Also, it’s integrated with blog hostings like Ublog and Buzznet.

As I see the SGH-L760 misses two useful for social functionality features: WiFi and touchscreen. But integration with blogs and YouTube is good sign :)

P. S. I like Twitter which can make social any mobile phone with SMS support :)
