Accessing the Nokia N800 camera

Linux-based Internet Tablet Nokia N800 is very popular. Even coming N810 is not going to replace it completely (I’m not talking about windows-based Origami). Using Maemo SDK it’s fairly simple develop new applications or porting existing ones. For sure to be success you need a right documentation. Following article from IBM.com explains obviously how to use N800 camera API.

P. S. The easiest way IMHO to setup Maemo development environment is downloading the Maemo SDK VMware Appliance. It can be run with free VMwave Player which available for both: Linux and Windows.

Nokia lunched MOSH Beta – a content sharing site where community members upload, distribute and manage content to be viewed and enjoyed on mobile devices. The new service is oriented on Nokia mobile devices users only (to use it you have to install a special application on the your device). So, if you’re not Nokia fan this service is definitely not for your. But if you have a Nokia770 or N800 or some other advanced mobile device from Nokia try it. Maybe you’ll find what do you really need.

Nokia 770 is very popular now. IMHO, it’s the best product of Nokia. So, it’s reasonable that Nokia decided to release next version of Internet Tablet. The new model – Nokia 870, will have a built-in webcam, which can apparently rotate to face towards or away from the user, 180 MB internal memory and SD slot instead of RS-MMC. Internally it’ll be still 770 and it’ll run OS 2006. The new model won’t have a slide-in “dock” casing which is useless IMHO.

Nokia bring Yahoo! services for mobiles users

Nokia and Yahoo today extended their partnership to offer Yahoo! branded services including Yahoo! Mail and Messenger on Nokia’s wide range of mobile phones operating on the Series 40 platform. The first models where Yahoo! services will be availabe are Nokia 6300, the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5200. About which services we’re talking? The most useful and important thing is a synchronization of contacts, tasks and calendar on your mobile with Yahoo!
