Twitter is a bit strange service. At the first view it’s not useful at all and absolutely chaotic. But it offers amazing functionality for extending and delivering different type of messages. SimpleHelp posted 12 web applications based on twitter which can make your life easier. What you can do with those applications? Get information about some places from MultiMap or about current weather, know how much fuel do you use, send some message to the group of people, setup alarm, track your FedEx, UPS, USPS or DHL package, search for books, DVDs and music on Amazon.com, connect to your Google Calendar, Remember The Milk or eBay account. Really amazing, isn’t it?
BTW, I registered on the Remember The Milk and created a few tasks. Will see if it’s more suitable for me then Toodledo.
Leonid blogged a few times about Russian social network Odnoklassniki.ru. Basically, it’s good place to find your classmates from school, college, university or coworkers from the previous places of work. But personally I don’t like the way how it’s done and stability of that service. I found alternative service which is much better and reliable. It’s VKontakte.ru. It looks similar to very popular Facebook and offers a simple way to find classmates, coworkers and friends. It’s allows to upload photos, audio, video, write funny wall-posts, send private messages, create or join to some group. Technically VKontakte.ru satisfies the requirements of web 2.0 and ordinary users should find its interface simple and friendly.
I found a few my classmates from Military Mojaiski Academy, a lot of fun photos (black and white actually). So, I highly recommend to all Russian people check that service.
Usually to search something in the web people use some keywords. Google provides an efficient way to make a search not only text documents but in the PDF, MS Word etc which are not readable without special applications. Now it’s time to search a video by words which occur there. Unfortunately, Google cannot help you but Blinkx can. Blinkx is the world’s largest and most advanced video search engine:
Unlike other multimedia search engines that attempt to re-purpose technology built for the Text Web, blinkx uses a unique combination of patented conceptual search, speech recognition and video analysis software to efficiently, automatically and accurately find and qualify online video. Today, blinkx is the world’s largest single index of rich media content on the Web, delivering more content from a broader range of sources than either Google or Yahoo!

If you’re working in web you need to have something similar to office desk. It may help your potential customers to gain some insight about you and your business before they start talk with you. One possible place to organize your working place online is Facebook. Sure it can be used just for fun as many others social services. But those 12 tips will help you use Facebook professionally. My favorite is “Limit time wasted on Facebook”. IMHO, it’s very important. “Facebook is a black hole. In order to get the most of Facebook, you have to be on the platform.” Sure, you may spend whole day paling with applications, but you have to work! Don’t forget it. Facebook should work for you but it shouldn’t be opposite 🙂

P. S. I found very annoying POP-up snap-shot adds on the Library clips. I understand that the blog should work for money as well but it’s very difficult to read articles when those dummy POP-ups appear for every link.
